Rolex, for its part, simply calls it the Oyster Perpetual.\nReference 5050, in steel, is one of the last 32 mm Bubble Backs, from the second half of the 1940s: tonneau case with smooth bezel, fluted domed caseback, “Rolex Oyster” screw-down crown with Swiss cross, caliber 630 with centre seconds, chronometer-certified.\nOur example, serial number 661xxx, was produced in 1948. Its dial, originally ivory, has developed a remarkable, finely speckled “crème brûlée” patina, against which twelve radium-filled Arabic numerals stand out. Original and unrestored, it displays an unmistakable vintage charm that no watch with more modern luminescent material will ever develop. The blued steel pencil hands complete the ensemble. The case is in fine overall condition, and the winding crown is original. Caliber 630 has been fully overhauled by one of our experienced watchmakers and runs very well.
