Born in 1953 from a LeCoultre ébauche reserved for a handful of houses, the caliber 2003 – at 1.64 mm thick, less than a one-euro-cent coin – was, upon its release, the thinnest manual-winding caliber in the world, on a par with the house’s own 9ML.\nThe reference 5043, produced from 1953 to 1972, is the watch designed around it: a round 18K yellow gold case with a mirror-polished bezel and bevelled lugs, a snap-on caseback stamped with the Geneva Key No. 23 of Eggly \u0026amp; Cie, and a silver-ivory dial with printed baton hour markers and tapered baton hands. The dress watch par excellence.\nOur example, produced circa 1955, has never been polished: the facets of the lugs remain particularly crisp, the transitions sharp, and the hallmarks remarkably clear. The original dial is in very beautiful condition. The caliber 2003 has been fully serviced by one of our experienced watchmakers and runs perfectly. We present this watch on a new extra-thin black alligator leather strap handmade by our artisan, complemented by a yellow-gold-plated pin buckle.
