This superb Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31 in steel, a reference 77080 produced (serial number A15xxxx) in 1999, features a smooth steel bezel, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, an exceptionally reliable and accurate automatic movement, and an elegant, restrained and desirable black dial known as the “Explorer 3-6-9” for the alternating baton hour markers and applied white gold Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.
In perfect aesthetic and mechanical condition, and entirely original down to the bracelet clasp code, this example embodies Rolex’s very DNA: efficient lines, purity and elegance, durability, mechanical reliability, and exemplary wearing comfort. This Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31 is preserved in perfect overall condition.
The stainless steel case retains its original proportions and finishing, alternating between brushed/satin surfaces and mirror-polished sides.
The black dial, known as the “Explorer 3-6-9” for the alternating baton hour markers and applied Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, is in excellent condition.
The self-winding mechanical movement, Rolex caliber 2230, has been fully serviced ahead of sale by one of our experienced watchmakers and runs within the strictest tolerances.
The winding crown is in perfect condition.
The original “semi-shielded” steel Oyster bracelet, reference 78350/17, 551 B end links, clasp code X1 (produced in January 1999), is very well preserved, with no stretch. The Rolex crown stamped on the clasp is crisp.
