Amplitude [ɑ̃.pli.tyd], from Latin amplitudo
In watchmaking. In a mechanical watch, the balance wheel swings back and forth, driven by energy transmitted by the mainspring via the escapement. The amplitude is therefore the angle traced by this pendulum, from its rest position to one of its extreme positions. Measured in degrees, amplitude is crucial to a watch's accuracy, directly influencing its ability to keep time accurately. The higher the amplitude, the more energy the balance has and the more precisely the watch can tell time.
We are Amplitude. Amplitude is the name we have given to our company, reflecting our commitment to offering high quality watches, completely disassembled by our watchmakers and returned to perfect working order. It is also a nod to the diversity of models we offer — in terms of eras, styles, materials, brands and prices — as well as to the multiplicity of our customers, ranging from young graduates wishing to be supported in the acquisition of their first watch to collectors seasoned by decades of study of vintage watches.
Lucas Botbol
Lucas' passion for watches began at a very young age. Growing up in Paris, in the heart of the Drouot auction district and its antique shops, Lucas was surrounded by furniture, paintings, jewelry, sculptures, posters – in short, old and collectible objects of all kinds.
Vintage watches captured his interest more than any other field. During his studies and his first work experiences, he dedicated all his free time to researching interesting, rare timepieces with fascinating history — watches with a soul. A cum laude graduate of Master's Degrees from Sciences Po in Public Affairs and HEC Paris in Business/Management, having spent time in the worlds of venture capital, auction houses and even senior civil service, he has chosen to fully commit himself to lovers of collectible watches.
His travels throughout Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia allowed him to establish strong links with numerous collectors and professionals in the field, that he now puts at the service of Amplitude's customers to help them acquire the models of their dreams.

The founders of Amplitude are collectors themselves. They decided to start this adventure to share their knowledge and networks with other vintage watch enthusiasts. In a way, they are dealers with a soul.

This is how we can fall in love with a small chronograph from the 1930s as easily as with a watch boasting an integrated bracelet typical of the 1970s, and recognize the merits of more recent models. Coming from the most prestigious Swiss watch manufacturers, Amplitude's watches are a reflection of its customers: diverse, and always interesting.

Amplitude has, over time, built up a network of partners, suppliers, and subcontractors for all aspects of the vintage watch collection journey. Thus, we can rely on over ten artisan watchmakers, polishers and micro-mechanics, who have completed the most serious training and worked at the most well-regarded companies in the field. We also work hand in hand with other specialized watch dealers to find the watches our customers are looking for as quickly as possible and at the best conditions.

While some enthusiasts know exactly which model they want to acquire, the vast majority of Amplitude's clients want to be supported by experts, able to understand each person's lifestyle, needs and desires and to advise them accordingly.
