1969 Tudor Date-Day Ref. 7017/0 in Steel – Taupe Dial

La Tudor Oyster Prince Date-Day référence 7017/0 est la réponse en acier à la célèbre Rolex Day-Date, dite « la montre des présidents » – à ceci près qu’avec ses 38 mm de diamètre, elle surpasse la Rolex et ses 36 mm, ce qui lui vaut le surnom de « Jumbo » parmi les collectionneurs.
Lancée à la fin des années 1960, cette référence coïncide avec l’adoption par Tudor de l’emblème au bouclier en lieu et place de la rose Tudor historique. Comme il est de tradition chez Tudor à cette époque, le boîtier Oyster étanche et la couronne de remontage sont fabriqués et signés par Rolex, la « grande sœur »/maison-mère de Tudor.
Notre exemplaire, fabriqué en 1969 (numéro de série 695xxx), se distingue par un superbe cadran gris ardoise/taupe dont la matière luminescente (base tritium) présente au bout des index bâtons appliqués a développé une superbe patine chaleureuse, uniforme et prononcée.
Les jours sont affichés dans un guichet à 12 heures, tandis que la date est à 3 heures, sous la loupe cyclope du verre en plexiglas.
Le bracelet est, comme attendu sur ces modèles, un Rolex Oyster vintage en acier à maillons pliés, référence 7836, attaches 382.
Le mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique, calibre Tudor 1895 sur base Adolph Schild 1895, a été révisé par l’un de nos horlogers expérimentés et fonctionne très bien.

This Tudor Oyster Prince Date-Day is preserved in excellent overall condition.
The 38 mm steel case is in fine shape, and all the inscriptions on the caseback remain deep and clearly legible.
The superb slate grey/taupe dial is the defining trait of this watch. Its colour, probably the rarest of the reference 7017 production, responds beautifully to the luminous material (tritium-based) at the tips of the applied stick markers, which has developed a most attractive warm, uniform and pronounced patina. We chose to have the reference’s characteristic hands colour-matched for perfect coherence with the dial.
The automatic mechanical movement, Tudor caliber 1895 based on the Adolph Schild 1895, has been serviced by one of our experienced watchmakers and runs very well.
The vintage bracelet, a Rolex Oyster in steel with folded links, reference 7836, 382 end links, is in very fine condition.
