Launched in the late 1960s, the Omega Constellation, nicknamed the “C-Shape” or the “Connie” due to the the shape of its tonneau (barrel) case, designed by Gérald Genta, marks a bold evolution in the design of the prestigious Constellation series, which first appeared in 1952.
Its stainless steel case with a diameter of 35 mm and characterized by its "C"-shaped silhouette with flowing lines and integrated lugs, brings a modernist elegance, typical of the period, to the wrist. The case back is engraved with a medallion of the Geneva Observatory surrounded by eight stars.
Our example, reference ST 168.0056, produced in 1973 (serial no. 376xxxxx), is distinguished by its beautiful silver dial, enhanced with faceted applied indexes. The presence of the OMEGA name at 6 o'clock denotes the fact that this watch was intended for the Japanese market. Protected by a mineral glass, the dial displays a readable and harmonious layout with a date window at 3 o'clock.
On the movement side, this Constellation features the Omega 1011 caliber, an automatic movement with official COSC chronometer certification, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour and equipped with a quick-set date function.
Preserved in excellent overall condition with the case retaining its original edges and chamfers, this 1973 Omega Constellation “C-Shape” embodies one of the manufacture’s most iconic designs. Both dressy and sporty, it represents a superb introduction for anyone looking to start, or expand, their vintage watch collection.

Condition

This Omega Constellation is preserved in excellent overall condition.
The silver dial is flawless. The luminescent material of the hands and indexes (tritium base) has developed a superb, warm, even patina.
The steel case retains its original proportions and finishes, with alternating satin-finished surfaces using the sunburst technique and wide, crisp, mirror-polished chamfers.
The self-winding mechanical movement, Omega caliber 1011, chronometer-certified by the COSC, has been completely overhauled by an experienced watchmaker and operates to the strictest tolerances, with a professional timegrapher reading of 283° and +4 s/day on 4 positions' average.
The Amplitude° hand-sewn sky blue suede leather strap is new.
An excellent example.
