1957 Tudor Prince Oysterdate ref. 7914 – Honeycomb Dial and Roulette Date

This superb Tudor reference 7914 in stainless steel features a rare cream textured “honeycomb” dial and original radium sword hands, the Tudor rose that collectors love, faceted indexes, a date window at 3 o'clock with a "roulette" disc in that the numbers on even days are red while odd days are black, a beautiful vintage anonymous expandable riveted bracelet typical of the 1950s, and a Tudor Auto-Prince self-winding mechanical movement that runs perfectly.
The stainless steel case measures 34mm in diameter. It is topped with a Plexiglas glass with Cyclops, this magnifying glass patented by Rolex to facilitate reading of the date at 3 o'clock. Case back signed Montres Tudor SA, original screw-down crown with the Rolex logo and the “+” of the Swiss patent.
Honeycomb dials were extremely complex to manufacture and were abandoned for simpler alternatives at the turn of the 1960s. Often, the examples that have survived are today damaged, when they have not been repainted or poorly restored during their life. The dial on our watch is entirely original and incredibly well preserved.
All in all, modern Tudors are excellent value for money, but if you're looking for a vintage watch with a unique soul and patina, this is it! Completely original and featuring a dial that has developed a superb, warm patina without being damaged, this is quite simply the finest example of a Tudor 7914 we have ever seen — a collector's dream.

In excellent overall condition, this Tudor Prince Oysterdate reference 7914 only shows superficial marks of use.
The steel case maintains uniform satin-finish surfaces, and the engravings of the reference and serial numbers on the case back are deep and clear.
The superb “honeycomb” dial has developed a unique patina, no text is missing, and the dot of luminescent material (radium base) at the end of the markers are complete and add a particular warmth to this watch, just like the hands.
The original “roulette” date disc is perfectly preserved.
The riveted expandable stainless steel bracelet is very “tight” and its springs work perfectly.
The self-winding mechanical movement functions very well, with a reading of ± 0 seconds/day and 265° amplitude in 4 positions on our professional timegrapher.
The plexiglas crystal has been replaced with a new one for perfect readability.
