Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso “Classique Medium” Quartz in Steel, Ref. 250.8.08

In 1931, British officers stationed in India were dismayed to see their watches broken on the polo fields. Businessman César de Trey brought the idea back to Switzerland, and on 4 March 1931 engineer René-Alfred Chauvot filed the patent for a reversible case: the dial swivels on itself and shelters behind the steel. The Reverso was born – the ultimate Art Deco icon, produced for nearly a century and now one of the most recognisable silhouettes in watchmaking.
Our example, a Reverso known as the “Classique Medium” ref. 250.8.08 produced circa 2005 (serial number 212xxxx), presents the model in its purest expression: a 23 × 38.5 mm steel case with its signature gadroons, a silver dial with black painted Arabic numerals, a closed blue railway minute track and blued steel sword-shaped hands, beneath a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. It is powered by the in-house quartz caliber 608 – just 1.6 mm thick, one of the thinnest movements ever produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The watch has been fully inspected by our watchmakers and fitted with a new battery.
It is presented on a navy blue alligator strap fastened by a steel Jaeger-LeCoultre deployant buckle, and accompanied by our Steel Warranty Card.

This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso known as the “Classique Medium”, reference 250.8.08, is preserved in excellent overall condition.
The rectangular steel case retains its original proportions and finishes, combining mirror polishing on most of the watch, vertical matte satin-brushing on the caseback, and sandblasting inside the grooves of the brancards. The case swivels and flips over smoothly.
The markings on the caseback – including the reference and serial numbers – are legible and crisp.
The winding crown still bears its original “JL” logo, in excellent condition.
The original silver dial is in very good condition. No markings are missing, and the blue scale is impeccable. The blued steel sword-shaped hands are perfectly preserved.
The matte blue alligator strap, hand-stitched by our craftsman, is new, and is complemented by a steel Jaeger-LeCoultre deployant buckle in perfect condition.
