Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 3718A from 1989 – 150th Anniversary, Special Edition for the Japanese market

The Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 3718A was produced exclusively for the Japanese market in 1989, to celebrate the prestigious Swiss manufacturer's 150th anniversary. It is estimated that only 500 examples were produced, with ivory or gray dial.
The manufacturing quality of this model is remarkable, with a case combining the advantages of vintage and modern watches, a crown marked with the Calatrava Cross, a back inset with a golden medallion engraved “Patek Philippe - 1839-1989”, a superb subtly grained ivory dial adorned with white gold indexes and a small seconds at 6 o'clock, and a Patek Philippe 215 PS caliber bearing the Geneva Hallmark – attesting to excellent chronometric performance and traditional finishing.
Added to the rarity of the reference is the fact that steel is the least common and most prestigious material in the Calatrava collection, introduced in the 1930s.
Our superbly preserved example is still accompanied by all the accessories it was born with: Original black strap and its steel pin buckle (both signed Patek Philippe), Certificate of Origin, Brown documents holder exclusive to Japan, Service book (remained blank: this watch had never been in service until Amplitude bought it), microfiber cloth, and even the credit purchase contract of the first owner!
Absolutely elegant, this Calatrava is the embodiment of refinement and “quiet luxury”.

This Calatrava has been preserved, since its birth 35 years ago, in near new condition.
The ivory “Sigma” dial is perfect and shows no marks, just like the hands.
The case, probably never polished, retains clean chamfers and clear demarcations between the satin-brushed and mirror-polished surfaces. Only a few micro-scratches from use are visible on the case back and on the back of the lugs, which we have chosen to keep in order to preserve the watch with maximum authenticity.
The black strap shows some signs of aging – we chose to keep it because we have reason to believe that it is the one that was fitted to the watch when it was born in 1989.
The accessories and documents accompanying this Calatrava 3718 are in perfect condition.
