Rare 1962 Piaget “Clous de Paris” Ref. 9222 in Yellow Gold & Diamonds – Only 45 Pieces Produced

We are pleased to present this extremely rare extra-flat rectangular Piaget, produced in 1962.
The bezel is entirely paved with diamonds, while the case and dial share the "Clous de Paris" motif for which Piaget is famous. These small yellow gold pyramids, superbly preserved since the watch's creation over 60 years ago, add substance and character.
The fully guilloché case of this motif, also called "diamond point", is closed by a screw-down back which retains its original engravings of the reference number and the individual serial number of the watch.
When we inquired about it from Piaget's Heritage department, we were delighted to receive this enthusiastic response: "It was difficult for us to find information regarding the piece you inquired about, as this model is very rare. The watch was manufactured in 1962 and bears the technical reference 9222, which can be considered its name. I can confirm that the diamonds were indeed set by Piaget, but there is no known last sale price for this timepiece. Only 45 examples were made between 1962 and 1974. You are in possession of a Piaget watch that is both truly rare and aesthetically extremely pleasing."
Preserved in excellent condition, this example is made ultra-thin by the use of the illustrious Piaget 9P hand-wound mechanical caliber, introduced in 1957, and for a long time the thinnest movement (2 mm) in the world.
Still accompanied by its original black alligator strap and its original 18-carat yellow gold pin buckle, both signed Piaget, this piece represents a rare opportunity to acquire an extremely unusual and aesthetically striking Piaget.

This rectangular Piaget is preserved in very good overall condition.
The 18-carat (750‰) yellow gold case retains its original proportions and finishes, with a finely detailed Clous de Paris/guilloché motif. The caseback retains its original engravings of the watch's individual reference number and serial number, deep and clear. The winding crown is in very good condition.
The gold dial is superb, with its Piaget signature and perfectly preserved black painted markers. Some pyramids have beautiful surface oxidation at their tops.
This Piaget “Tank” comes with its original black alligator leather strap and its original 18-carat yellow gold pin buckle, signed Piaget, which retains its textured finish inside the applied “P”.
The hand-wound mechanical movement, Piaget caliber 9P, has been fully serviced by one of our watchmakers specializing in vintage calibers and operates to the strictest tolerances.
A model that is both rare, visually striking, and very well preserved since its birth more than 6 decades ago.
