1983 Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox “Jubilee 150th Anniversary” Special Edition of 300 pcs, Ref. 141.012.5 – New Old Stock

Very fine, rare and historic Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox produced in a limited edition of 300 pieces on the occasion of the manufacture's Jubilee/150th Anniversary in 1983. Preserved in New Old Stock condition, this watch is a special opportunity for the passionate collector to acquire a perfect example of this unusual model appreciated by enthusiasts.
1983 was an important year for Jaeger-LeCoultre, during which the manufacturer delved into its past to present several reissues of iconic models as well as limited editions, opened its museum, and organized a historical exhibition around the world (as it had done in 1958 for the previous Jubilee).
The stainless steel case features alternating mirror-polished and satin/brushed surfaces, the bezel is in 18-carat yellow gold. The case back features a special brushed medallion with an oversized “JL Memovox” logo. The 2 crowns (one for the alarm and the other for the timekeeping part) are signed.
Superb 2-tone dial with a subtly grained texture, JL logo and applied indexes in yellow gold, date window at 3 o'clock. The luminescent material at the tip of the indexes and on the gold baton hands (tritium base) has developed a warm and charming uniform patina.
The hand-wound mechanical movement (Caliber K911), with its 54-hour power reserve and powerful alarm, bears witness to the expertise of Jaeger-LeCoultre, nicknamed “the watchmaker of watchmakers”.
We chose to pair this two-tone Memovox with a superb custom-made strap in hand-stitched Himalayan alligator leather, used by Hermès for its most prestigious handbags. The scales, in shades of white and gray, remind of the case while the stitching is gold-colored, a nod to the hands, markers and bezel.

This wonderful Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Jubilee is presented in “New Old Stock/NOS” condition, the terminology used by collectors to designate watches that are vintage but, having never been worn since their production, have remained exactly as they were when they were born.
