1987 Audemars Piguet Two-Tone “Bamboo” in White and Yellow Gold

Rare and fascinating Audemars Piguet two-tone “Bamboo” in 18k white and yellow gold, produced circa 1987 (serial number C71xx).
The visual appeal of this watch stems from its unique design made of an octagonal case with a pattern imitating bamboo stems, from subtle details, and from the alternation between two gold colors – yellow and white. The white gold case and bezel are thus enhanced with yellow gold inserts; as is the bracelet. The dial, silver and vertically brushed, also presents this combination, brought by double indexes in yellow gold, in perfect harmony with the overall design. Finally, the hands once again have a double finish, mirror polished on one side and matte sandblasted on the other.
The superb integrated bracelet in 18-carat white and yellow gold is signed Audemars Piguet and bears, on the back of its jewelry clasp, the "JPE" hallmark of the workshop of master chainmaker Jean-Pierre Ecoffey, an illustrious Geneva "chaîniste" (or chainmaker), those exceptional craftsmen behind the most beautiful gold watch bracelets of the 20th century. On the wrist, it is incomparably supple.
