A very fine example of the Rolex Datejust, reference 16200, produced in 2004 (serial number F937xxx).
Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, superb white dial with large applied white gold Roman numeral hour markers, without luminous material (“No Lume”) on either the dial or the hands, ultra-reliable automatic movement: a perfect watch for everyday wear, equally suited to both men and women!
This remarkably well-preserved Datejust is a wonderful gateway into the collecting of so-called “neo-vintage” prestige watches. It combines the hallmark traits of Rolex models throughout the 20th century (an elegant slim case and satin-finished lugs) with the practical advantages of modern watches: durable stainless steel, a robust bracelet, a reliable movement with a generous power reserve, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
Presented here fully serviced, on its original Oyster bracelet (CL11 clasp code for production in November 2004), accompanied by its original “punched” Rolex warranty document showing an initial sale on 15 November 2005 at Joyería Murguia, official Rolex retailer in Lima (Peru), and by our Steel Warranty Card, this is an example of irreproachable quality.

Detailed description

If only one watch were to remain, it would be a Rolex Datejust.

Since its creation in 1945, the Datejust has embodied the pinnacle of functionality and style in the world of luxury watches. This collection distils the essence of Rolex’s technical innovations and stylistic identity: a water-resistant steel Oyster case, a screw-down crown, a reliable and precise automatic movement, a legible dial, and an instantaneous date in a window at 3 o’clock, readable at a single glance thanks to the Cyclops, the magnifying lens fitted to the crystal and patented in the early 1950s.

We present here an excellent example of the reference 16200, produced in 2004. Featuring a smooth bezel and a robust steel Oyster bracelet, this watch boasts a very beautiful white dial with large applied Roman numeral hour markers and hands in white gold, without luminous material (“No Lume”) on either the dial or the hands.

This watch is powered by the celebrated Rolex 3135 automatic mechanical caliber, renowned for its outstanding reliability.

It is accompanied by its original “punched” Rolex warranty document showing an initial sale on 15 November 2005 at Joyería Murguia, official Rolex retailer in Lima (Peru), as well as our Steel Warranty Card.

This steel Rolex Datejust reference 16200 is presented in superb aesthetic and mechanical condition, with a flawless dial, a case with particularly sharp edges, a smooth bezel and a taut bracelet. Its movement has recently undergone a complete mechanical service by one of our experienced watchmakers to ensure its perfect operation for years to come.

The Rolex Datejust: A Heritage of Innovation and Elegance

Introduced in 1945 to mark Rolex’s 40th anniversary, the Datejust was the first automatic watch to feature a date window that “jumped” instantly at midnight. This innovation, as so often in Rolex history, transformed the watch industry and set a new standard for convenience and functionality.

Over the decades, the Datejust has benefited from various improvements while retaining its characteristic appearance and pioneering spirit. With its instantly recognizable date window, enlarged by a Cyclops magnifier patented in the 1950s, the Datejust combines practicality and prestige, making it one of the most versatile and celebrated models in the Rolex family.

The universal appeal of the Datejust lies in the diversity of its executions and their timelessness – available in a multitude of sizes, materials and dial configurations, each piece offers something unique while respecting Rolex’s stylistic canons and rigorous technical standards. Whether crafted in stainless steel or in precious metals, featuring simple markers or elaborate diamond settings, each Datejust is designed to stand the test of time, both in terms of style and of mechanical reliability.

Rolex has continually adapted the collection to meet the evolving tastes of its clientele, notably by introducing the Datejust II and Datejust 41 models, which are larger and heavier than the references produced to date.

The Datejust is not just a watch; it’s a piece of heritage that has graced the wrists of the world’s greatest leaders, visionaries, artists and celebrities, making it a symbol of success and achievement across generations. Let’s only name a few of its wearers: Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King Jr, the Dalai Lama, Roger Federer, Jennifer Aniston, Paul Newman, Michael Jordan, Bill Clinton, Tom Cruise, Rihanna, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, Jacques Chirac, Pope John Paul II, and even Mao Zedong!

Today, the Rolex Datejust, a true “blue chip watch” with timeless style, is the ideal entry point for anyone wishing to discover the world of vintage watch collecting, while still being wearable on a daily basis.
