The Omega Genève Dynamic, designed by Raymond Thévenaz in 1967, is an icon of watch design from the 1960s and 1970s.
Its monobloc elliptical case, made by Fernando Fontana, fits perfectly on the wrist and incorporates a sunken crown for a fluid aesthetic.
Its two-tone silver and navy blue dial, decorated with painted indexes and a bright blue central second hand, offers optimal readability.
This example, preserved in mint condition, retains its period navy blue Corfam strap and its self-winding mechanical movement, Omega caliber 565, recently serviced by an experienced watchmaker.
A visionary vintage model, with a style that is both avant-garde and timeless.

Detailed description

The Omega Genève Dynamic embodies the boldness and innovation of watchmaking in the 1960s and 1970s. Designed by Raymond Thévenaz and introduced in 1968, this watch is distinguished by its monobloc case (with the movement introduced through the glass opening) with an elliptical shape, designed to ideally fit the shape of the wrist. This unique design is the result of an in-depth ergonomic study and marks a break with traditional case shapes. In 1969, the Omega Dynamic won the first biennial Swiss industrial design contest, beating 250 competitors. By units sold, he Dynamic will probably remain the most successful watch in Omega's history.

Made by Fernando Fontana, owner of the Lascor Case Factory in Sesto Calende in Lombardy, the 1st generation stainless steel case has a brushed/satin finish that uses the sunburst technique and is topped with a domed and reinforced acrylic ("plexi") crystal. The winding crown is integrated/embedded in the case, in order to avoid line breaks and also contributing to the "aerodynamic" design so particular to this model. The innovative system for attaching the bracelet, held by a ring screwed onto the back, allowed a quick and practical change by the owner, thanks to the plastic tool (Tool 107) initially supplied with it. Originally, this series was accompanied by bracelets in steel, or in Corfam, an innovative synthetic material imitating leather and available in 12 colors. Our example thus retains its period bracelet in very dark blue Corfam.

The two-tone silver and navy dial of our example, designed for optimum readability, is the most famous and sought-after of the many variations produced. It features painted baton hour markers, a date window at 3 o'clock, and both its hour markers and hands feature luminescent material (tritium base) that has developed a beautiful, warm, even patina, adding to the unmistakable vintage charm of this piece. The bright blue of the central second hand underlines the model's spirit of dynamic elegance. Beneath the dial, the self-winding mechanical movement, the Omega 565 caliber, has been completely overhauled by an experienced watchmaker and operates to the strictest tolerances.

At Amplitude, we are pleased to present this example preserved in mint condition since its birth more than 50 years ago. An iconic watch of its time, the Omega Genève Dynamic combines revolutionary design with reliable mechanics. Its avant-garde style and exceptional comfort make it a prized piece for vintage watch lovers.

Condition

This Omega Dynamic has remained in mint condition since its birth over 50 years ago.
Never worn, never polished, we acquired it precisely because this example is a testimony to how these models looked like when they left the factory – it is a true a reference point.
The stainless steel case retains sharp angles and the front face retains its original brushed/satin finish (sunburst technique), with a particularly clean texture.
The beautiful two-tone dial, silver and navy blue, is preserved in perfect condition and the luminescent material of the indexes and hands (tritium base) has developed a beautiful, uniform and warm patina, adding to the vintage charm of this piece.
The mechanical self-winding movement, the celebrated Omega caliber 565, has been thoroughly overhauled by an experienced watchmaker and operates to the strictest tolerances. On this occasion, we replaced the domed hesalite ("plexi") crystal anew for perfect clarity.
The strap fitted to this Omega Dynamic is the one it came with from the factory, in very dark blue perforated Corfam (a synthetic material imitating leather). It has remained in near-new condition.
